Child Car Seat Safety

carseat

Child car seat safety is very important when it comes to travelling with your kids. You may think you have an idea of how to install your baby's car seat but are you aware of how you can make sure your baby is safe and how to increase their travel safety? Do you know how to make sure the baby seat is fitted correctly and securely? Here are some helpful tips for you to follow:

1. Make sure that the travel child seat you are planning to buy suits your child's weight and size.

2. Follow every step through the manufacturers instruction booklet for installing the travel child seat - this is very important. The manufacturers instruction manual should show easy to follow steps on how to fit your kids car travel seat.

3. When it comes to child car seat safety take your time when installing your baby seat. This is something that should never be done in a hurry.

4. It is against UK law to place a rear-facing car seat in the front passenger seat in the vehicle while the airbag is turned on. It is still highly recommended by many experts that you place a rear facing child seat in the rear of the car instead of the front of the car even if the airbag is not on.

5. Give the baby seat a good shake to make sure it is installed securely and does not move any more than one inch in any direction. If it moves further than an inch then it is not secure enough.

6. Check that your child is securely held in the harness of their child travel seat. If there is still space when you do this the harness is too loose.

7. To tighten the baby travel seat, pull on the seat belt to tighten further and test the movement of the baby travel seat to check if it is secure.

You should now know how to maximise your children's child car seat safety.
